The council have closed the main Flinders field till the end of January. This cuts out Fields 1-4 of our junior comp there. We have added on Fields 11 and 12. Instead of our normal 4 timeslots on 10 fields we will now have 5 timeslots on 8 fields. Our last timeslot at Flinders is now 6.40pm.
JUNIOR COMPS MERCY RULE
We are abolishing the mercy rule -
When a team gets 10 points ahead and the losing team players then remove a tag each. This practice is causing injuries and it is not really doing anything to help our game.
We will still have the following mercy rule -
When a team is 5 or more points behind, they will take a tap instead of a kickoff following a try. This will occur no matter which team scores a try and will continue as long as the 5 or more pts gap is maintained in the game.
This is now in play for all our Shellharbour Junior comps and also the Wollongong Junior comps.
Our Senior and Junior Summer Comp last round prior to Christmas will be Thursday 19th December. Then we will return on Thursday 30th January.
Due to the rain and storm activity we’ve had plus the ongoing forecast for more thunder and lightning, we are calling off today’s Junior and Senior comps, at Myimbarr and Flinders.
Attention Flinders Field Parents, Spectators and Players.
It is a continual problem with people (including subs) standing too close to the side lines, creating a safety issue for both players and spectators. Please stand at least 1 metre from side lines. When standing/walking through the end/try line areas please allow at least 5 metres. Thank you in advance.
